2023 ANA/Yusuf Ali Grant: ANA Distributes Cheques to 11 chapters

 

ANA/YUSUF ALI NATIONWIDE LITERARY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: ANA DISTRIBUTES CHEQUES TO 11 CHAPTERS

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has announced the distribution of cheques to 11 of its state branches for the 2023 edition of ANA/Yusuf Ali nationwide literary awareness campaign. The sum of N3million was secured earlier this year by ANA under the leadership of Mr. Camillus Ukah. The initiative aims to promote literary awareness in Nigeria and support local Chapters of ANA across the country.

ANA's General Secretary, Maik Ortserga, released a statement announcing the beneficiaries of the grant. The selected state branches are ANA Ondo, ANA Oyo, ANA Kogi, ANA Imo, ANA Kaduna, ANA Rivers, ANA Bayelsa, ANA Benue, ANA Edo, ANA Niger, and ANA Nasarawa. The grant will be used to promote literature in these states, with a particular focus on increasing awareness and readership.

The cheques were presented to the selected state branches on the 14th day of April, 2023, during the ANA Chairmen and Secretaries Meeting held in Ilorin. This meeting provided an opportunity for ANA to engage with its State Chairmen and Secretaries and discuss ways to promote literature and ANA’s activities in Nigeria. The distribution of the Yusuf Ali Grant’s cheques was a significant step towards achieving this goal.

ANA's President, Mr. Camillus Ukah, expressed his delight at the distribution of the cheques to the selected state branches. He noted that the grant was a testament to the commitment of Yusuf Ali to the promotion of literature and reading culture in Nigeria. He also thanked ANA Chapters for their hard work and dedication to promoting literature in Nigeria.

According to him, the Yusuf Ali grant will provide a significant boost to the literary activities of the selected state branches. SOYINKA ABAYOMI YUSUF

Soyinka Abayomi Yusuf is a highly motivated individual with a passion for education, agriculture, and community development. He began his academic journey at Ibadan Municipal Government IMG BCJA Apata Ibadan, where he acquired a solid foundation in education.

After his secondary school education, Soyinka reenrolled at Oluyole Estate Grammar School Ring Road to obtain his Senior School Certificate in both WAEC and NECO. He then proceeded to The Polytechnic Ibadan Saki Satellite Campus Saki Oyo State Nigeria, where he obtained his ND in Banking and Finance.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Soyinka pursued a career in cooperative, economic, and management by obtaining his HND from Federal Cooperative College Ibadan. He is currently pursuing a BSc in Espam Formation University Republic of Benin.

In addition to his academic achievements, Soyinka is a native of Ibadan land and a talented architectural draftsman and small-scale farmer. He is also a prolific writer and a committed member of the Rotaract Club of Federal Cooperative College Eleyele, Ibadan.

Soyinka is a member of several organizations dedicated to community development, including FAO Farmer, NDE SADTS Oyo State Nigeria, MSSN, NASFAT, and currently MCAN Ibadan South West Local Government MCLO. With his diverse skillset and commitment to excellence, Soyinka is poised to make a significant impact in his community and beyond.

TAIWO FAUZIYYAH ADESOLA

Taiwo Fauziyyah Adesola is a highly talented individual with a diverse range of skills and experience. With a background in graphic design, fashion design, and programming, Fauziyyah possesses a unique combination of creativity and technical proficiency. She is also a young Nigerian poet and a talented creative writer who aspires to become a publisher someday.

Despite her many accomplishments, Fauziyyah remains grounded and lives with her parents in the city of Ibadan. Her passion for the arts, coupled with her strong work ethic, has earned her a reputation as a promising young talent in various industries, and she continues to work hard to achieve her goals and make a name for herself in the world of art and design.

AWE JÉSÙJOBA ISAAC

Awe Jésùjoba Isaac, also known by his poetic alias, 'Jọba the poète', or simply 'Jọba'. He is a multifaceted individual who identifies himself as both a poet and a fashion model.

Awe is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, where he earned a degree in Counsellor Education. He discovered his passion for poetry back in 2008 while he was in secondary school and has been honing his skills ever since. Along the way, he also ventured into spoken word poetry, and he performed for the first time in 2018.

As a renowned writer and intellectual, Omotosho has made significant contributions to the development of literature in Nigeria and beyond. Kole Omotosho was born on April 21, 1943, in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. He is a prolific writer, scholar, and professor, who has authored several books that have had a significant impact on African literature. The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has sent warm greetings to the Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr. This important Islamic festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, which is a time of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

In a statement released today, the SYNW praised the dedication and commitment of Muslim Nigerians to their faith and to the ideals of peace, love, and unity that are central to Islam. The organization also highlighted the important contributions that Muslims have made to the cultural and social fabric of Nigeria, and urged all Nigerians to continue to work together to build a more peaceful and prosperous country.

"As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, we join our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and around the world in giving thanks to Allah for the blessings of Ramadan and for the many gifts that we have received," said Mr. Wole Adedoyin, President of the SYNW.
